Brighten Up Dull & Tired Skin

Our skin renews itself approximately every 28-30 days. As we age, this process begins to slow day and as we grow older and are constantly exposed to the UV rays of the sun our skin starts to appear dry and dull. This is the result of the outside layer of the skin getting excessive build up and is not exfoliated on a regular basis. Build-up is especially noticed after we have spent the summer in the sun. It’s more apparent to women since we realize that our make-up doesn't look as fresh and our foundation begins to fade within a couple of hours. Our make-up and foundation is actually being absorbed into the accumulated dead skin cells, which gives a very tired and unhealthy look to the skin.

To keep your skin vibrant and healthy on a regular basis, you must have a regimen that incorporates exfoliation. Exfoliation is a method necessary to break down the upper layer of dead skin to help achieve a smoother and renewed complexion. A lack of exfoliation can lead to a build-up of these dead skin cells and clogged pores which can lead to dull, dry and flaky skin.

Exfoliation:

 You should exfoliate at least 1-2 times per week (normal-combination skin) and once a week for sensitive skin to keep the skin’s healthy glow.

 However when used incorrectly, overexfoliation can occur. This is when you abuse facial scrubs, use it too frequently, apply too much pressure or massage/leave it on for the skin too long. This can cause irritation, redness and can damage your skin barrier. Here’s what NOT to do;

  • Do not use it everyday! The myth that the using it daily you can scrub away all your imperfections is not the case
  • The harder I scrub the cleaner my skin couldn’t be far from the truth! Exfoliating should be a gentle process

 Our Brightening Exfoliating Scrub is the perfect way to help you achieve a smoother complexion, improving circulation and skin cell turnover. Read more about it here
